Susan Brice:
Candidate for Saanich Council

I am a fourth generation Victorian, a mother and grandmother. After attending UVic I taught elementary school throughout the area and after having children myself I was motivated to seek elected office as a school trustee and Board Chair in SD#61.
My interest in Community continued to grow and I served as Councillor and Mayor in the District of Oak Bay. Then for a few years I stepped away from elected office and spent time as a Talk Show Host on CFAX radio and Ex.Dir. of the Better Business Bureau.
The Provincial economy in 2001 was in decline and I was persuaded to seek a seat as an MLA for Saanich South. I was successful and served Saanich residents as their MLA and was appointed to Cabinet. The Provincial seat gave me an opportunity play a role in developing public policy including economy, environment and social issues.
From 2005 until present I serve on Saanich Council and CRD. Over these amazing years I have chaired a range of committees including this term as Chair of Finance & Governance. Over this period I served as Chair Victoria Regional Transit Commission. Currently I am Vice Chair Victoria Regional Harbour Authority. I wish to continue serving on Saanich Council because the issues that are important to our residents are important to me.
Some of the areas I have and continue to support relating to youth in the Community:
1. I support student housing options both on and off campus
2. As Chair Victoria Regional Transit Commission, developed the current Transit Exchange at UVic
3. I support a range of safe transportation options including cycling, walking &transit
4. I have a record of providing recreation and competitive sports fields & campus services
