I was born in Cordova Bay and I'm raising my two kids in Strawberry Vale. I'm a mixed Indigenous mom and a Scout leader.

 

I'm forty-four. I studied to be a First Nations family support worker at twenty-one. I became a small business owner and a supervisor in my early twenties, then fell into a union leadership role in my late twenties, across twenty years in film and television. That is young to be responsible for other people, and it taught me two things early. Young people can carry real weight when somebody hands it to them. And policy is not fixed. Somebody writes the rules, and you can be the one who changes them. I chaired my department for about ten years, helped start our Women's Committee, and supported bringing in mental health first aid. 

I'm halfway through the Labour College of Canada, where I'm starting independent research on economic reconciliation and job access people in the trades through unions.

 

I got into a closed industry because people already inside decided to open the door instead of guarding it. That's why I'm running.

Young people in Saanich get asked their opinion after the decision is already made, and too many are doing the math on whether they can afford to stay where they grew up.

 Whether I win or lose in October, I commit to working with you after the seventeenth, when the campaigning stops and the building starts.

 

This is my first time on a ballot. It's not my first time getting something done.
