Ashiyana Hanif is a pioneering media professional and a Surrey resident of 40 years. As the founder of
Media Waves Live, she has spent three decades connecting residents with the information they need on
public safety, local services, and how their city is governed, in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and English. Few
people in Surrey have spent more time listening to what residents actually say about City Hall. Ashiyana
is running for council to close the gap between what gets announced and what people experience on
the ground, with a focus on strong services, safer streets, and fair treatment for the workers and small
operators who keep the city moving.
