Joel Grenz: Candidate for Parksville Mayor

Joel-Grenz-headshot.jpg

Joel Grenz is running for Mayor of Parksville. He started his digital agency, Motiontide, while he was still in university, and he still runs it today. He also earned a law degree at UBC along the way. Joel and his wife moved to the Parksville area in 2016 to raise their three kids.

Elected to council in 2022, Joel serves on both of Parksville's water boards and as an alternate director on the Regional District of Nanaimo, and he has advocated for Parksville's priorities in Victoria and Ottawa. He also hosts Nonpartisan Hacks, a podcast that explains how local government works, because he believes more people should know how decisions get made and how to have a say in them.

Priorities for Young People:

Housing you can stay in. A range of homes, including rentals and housing young people and families can afford, built with the water, healthcare, and services to support them.

A City Hall that includes you. Monthly Coffee with the Mayor, a modernized and useful City website, and engagement that reaches people where they already are, not just at council meetings.

Good local jobs. A vibrant downtown and a City that's easy for new and local businesses to deal with, so there's a reason to build a career here.

Ready for a changing climate. New water storage to get through longer dry summers, a protected Englishman River, and a healthy tree canopy.

Things to do, for every age. Parks, recreation, arts and culture, planned into the new Official Community Plan.
