Margaret Kunst was born at Murrayville Hospital and has lived in Langley her whole life. Elected to Township Council in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, she has served as co-chair of the Heritage Advisory Committee and as a director with the Union of BC Municipalities.

Margaret and her husband ran an agricultural supply business for 25 years. Before Council she spent ten years as Operations Director of the PuCKS Powerplay Foundation, helping children access sport and literacy programs, and volunteered in refugee sponsorship and newcomer settlement. She is a mother of four and grandmother of seven.

HOW I WILL ADVOCATE FOR YOUNG BRITISH COLUMBIANS

  1. Room for the next generation to stay. Margaret’s first priority is more housing choices so young people can build a life in Langley, with growth planned so it does not make the community less affordable for everyone else.

  2. Removing barriers for kids. Ten years with PuCKS taught her what happens when kids who would otherwise miss out get a team. On Council she won funding to launch the Water Safety Program in 2026 and up to $100,000 for the George Preston BMX track.

  3. Inclusion built into Township Hall. She initiated the Township’s Accessibility Committee under the Accessible BC Act and made sure the Langley Possibilities Group had a seat at the table.

  4. Honest numbers on borrowing. She brought forward the Debt Financing Summary Report motion so residents can see what the Township is borrowing. Her test: leave future generations great communities, not just the bill.

  5. Protecting young people’s health. She passed the bylaw amendment restricting vape stores to age-restricted premises.

"I want my grandchildren, and every young person who grew up here, to be able to build their future in Langley. That only happens if today’s decisions are made with tomorrow’s residents in mind. YBC4BG’s commitment to inclusion and responsible governance matches the way I have tried to serve, and I honoured to have their support."
