Harjas is a seasoned HR Professional and the Founder of Fateh Care Charity: a regional mobile food bank and support network that began during the pandemic to help seniors, people with disabilities, families and newcomers.

He is also founding Editor-in-Chief of Fateh Care Times, a multilingual community newspaper.

Here are my few cents on how I will support the youth in Saanich:

​

• A seat at the table: Yes to Saanich Youth Council, as well as improving participatory budgeting for all residents, helping the next generation learn public finances and budgeting and having a say in how specific revenue is re-invested in the community

• Let creativity lead: Expand micro-grants for youth-led projects to be reviewed by a youth panel, helping highlight youth priorities in the community

• Making more connections: Deliver free transit passes for Saanich youth similar to what Victoria has, improving connections within and between communities

• Acknowledge progress: partner with community associations and Saanich Legacy Foundation to expand awards for youth who showed positive growth in a school year, nominated by the teachers who see their progress
