Dan Ruimy: Candidate for Mayor of

Maple Ridge

Dan Ruimy is the Mayor of Maple Ridge, a former Member of Parliament, and a community leader committed to creating opportunities for the next generation. Before entering public office, Dan spent more than 30 years leading businesses and mentoring employees, believing that leadership is about helping people discover their potential.

As MP, Dan established a Youth Council to give young people a direct voice in federal issues and ensure their perspectives were reflected in decision-making. During his time as MP, he also donated his Bean Around Books bookstore and coffee shop to Pathfinders, giving the organization a community business where young people could gain life skills, job experience, and confidence.

As Mayor, Dan helped secure $1.8 million in federal funding for the RISE initiative, a youth violence prevention program that connects young people with mentorship, recreation, and support before they become involved in crime. He remains committed to building a Maple Ridge where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

  • Expanded playgrounds and park improvements across the city, creating more spaces for kids and families to gather close to home.

  • Always focused on making sure young people have a real seat at the table in Maple Ridge, growing mentorship, recreation, and community spaces so every young person can see a path forward here.

  • Backed Recreation Ready, the largest recreation investment in a generation, opening up more sport, recreation, and gathering space for young people across Maple Ridge.

  • Supported free and low-cost recreation programming that gives youth safe, accessible places to play, connect, and build confidence.
