Tracy Green: Candidate for Port Moody School Board

I have lived in the Tri-Cities for over 23 years and in Port Moody since 2016. Both of my children recently graduated from SD43 schools. I became involved in local advocate work as a parent, campaigning for years to build Eagle Mountain Middle School, and later served as a Village of Anmore councillor, where I helped secure the school alongside new childcare spaces. I have volunteered at Mossom Creek Hatchery since 2008, working alongside youth on local environmental initiatives—including helping a group of teens secure funding to produce a climate film. My career in the environmental and learning sectors has taught me that young people belong at the decision-making table.
How I will advocate for young British Columbians:
1. Give students a real voice: Push for structured, ongoing student input on board decisions and annual budgets.
2. Action on climate anxiety: Expand outdoor and environmental learning while prioritizing greener, more efficient school infrastructure.
3. Expand future pathways: Protect and broaden trades, apprenticeships, dual-credit options, and programs of choice.
4. Prepare for modern challenges: Enhance digital literacy, critical thinking, and practical guidance on AI and emerging careers.
5. Prioritize mental health and belonging: Ensure accessible counselling, inclusion, and learning supports for all students.
6. Integrate planning with growth: Partner with municipal and provincial leadership to co-locate new schools and childcare spaces in growing neighbourhoods, with direct youth involvement in the planning process.
7. Transparent budgeting: Implement plain-language budget reporting so students and families can easily understand district resource allocation.
